Welcome

Carolina is a special place, with boundless opportunities for a transformative student experience.  As one of four departments that report to the Dean of Students, the Office of the Dean of Students is committed to assisting each student reach their full potential, while being a participant in a dynamic, engaging, and inclusive environment.  Through a variety of services and programs we work toward our mission:

“...to provide support and assistance to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) community focused on empowering students to succeed in navigating the University Environment.”

This website provides a brief overview of the many programs and services that are available to assist  students, parents, faculty, and staff.  You may also have questions or concerns that are not addressed on our website.  In that case, I invite you to contact me or one of the other professional staff members in our office.  You are also welcome to visit us in the Office of the Dean of Students suite located on the first floor of SASB North, suite 1106.

In keeping with the official UNC Chapel Hill Policy on Non-Discrimination, the Office of the Dean of Students is committed in policy, practice, environmental design, and staff/volunteer behavior to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment to community members of all identities. Our staff members engage in diversity education and training to ensure that our programs, services, materials, and policies are broadly inclusive of all forms of diversity.

Sincerely,

Desirée Rieckenberg
Senior Associate Dean of Students
