Attending a conference? Have family obligations? Going on a much needed vacation?

You don’t have to cancel class! Faculty members can schedule a presentation whenever they need to miss a class or in response to particular student needs. Staff from Counseling and Wellness and the Office of the Dean of Students can cover your class by presenting a session on a wide variety of topics that are relevant to our students.

Current Program Offerings

Understanding Birth Control Methods
Program will provide an overview of different contraceptive methods available, including birth control pills, the Patch, the NuvaRing, Depo Provera, male and female condoms, and emergency contraception.  Presenter will have sample products so that students can see different methods, and students will have ample opportunity to ask questions about the pros and cons of each method.  Condoms and other safer sex items can be provided at this program.

Let’s Talk About Sex
Program will provide an overview of sexual health and sexual communication.  Topics covered can include: testing for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, contraceptive options, setting boundaries for desired sexual activity, exploring sexual desires, and sexual assault prevention.  Safer sex items, including condoms and latex dams, can be provided during this program.

Are you Positive? STIs and Safer Sex
Program will provide an overview of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and how to prevent them.  Information will also be provided on how Carolina students can be tested for various STIs, including HIV.  This program will discuss safer sex options for men and women in heterosexual and same-sex relationships.  Safer sex items, such as condoms and dental dams, can be provided at this program.

Clarifying Boundaries: Preventing Sexual Assault
Program participants will review a scenario where sexual assault occurs and then pinpoint various prevention opportunities.  Program will be focused on discussing how individuals and groups at Carolina can prevent sexual assault. 

Your Health
Program will help students understand typical myths surrounding various health behaviors.  Topics may include sexual health, nutrition, fitness, general health and wellness, alcohol and other drugs, as well as stress and time management. 

Getting what you want:  Building Healthy Relationships and Sexual
Decision Making
Program will review components of a healthy relationship and discuss techniques for effective communication within a relationship.  This program can include an active discussion of how sexual activity can be a healthy part of such relationships when both partners are educated about preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and pregnancy and all sexual activity is consensual.  This program can also provide a forum to discuss the benefits of abstinence and what’s required to make abstinence work.  Safer sex items, including condoms and dental dams, can be provided at this program.
