The Office of the Dean of Students is available to meet with students who experience incidents of discrimination, harassment and related misconduct including sexual and gender-based harassment, sexual violence, interpersonal violence and stalking. The office's role is to help students navigate university processes, understand reporting options, and access resources and support services, including interim protective measures. We understand that such incidents can affect many areas of a student's life and the Office of the Dean of Students can serve as a central hub to help students identify and engage the resources available to them. The office's role is to help students navigate university processes, understand reporting options, and access resources and support services, including interim measures.

The Office of the Dean of Students can also assist students in making a formal or informal report. Click here to access our contact information.

Students may file reports directly with the Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office (which includes Title IX), by contacting Ew Quimbaya-Winship, the Student Complaint/Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Students may also contact the law enforcement agency of the city or town where the incident occurred. If the assault occurred on campus, the Department of Public Safety can be reached directly at (919) 962-8100 or 911. More information on University reporting options can be found here.

Information regarding additional support services and reporting options can be found at http://sexualassaultanddiscriminationpolicy.unc.edu/.

If you have any questions or need assistance with this process, or would like to learn more about resources and accommodations available to you, feel free to contact us or stop by our office. You will not have to answer any questions that you feel are inappropriate or that make you uncomfortable.

Anonymous Reporting

One option is to file an anonymous report through the Equal Opportunity/ADA Office.  These reports help give university administrators a better picture of the number of assaults that are occurring within the university student community. This also helps the university to improve our efforts to prevent sexual and relationship violence.

Fill out as much information as you are comfortable providing on the form. You can bring it to the Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office at 100 E. Franklin St., mail it, or place it in a secure lock box in a public restroom in the Student Union. The only identifying information that is required is the last four digits of your PID. This is used to ensure that we do not have "double reporting."  If you choose to provide more detailed contact information at the bottom of the form, a professional staff member will reach out to you.

Please note that any information submitted will be appropriately reviewed.
