About the Tar Heel of the Month Initiative

The Office of the Dean of Students provides support and assistance to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) community focused on empowering students to succeed in navigating the university environment. As such, The Office of the Dean of Students strives to acknowledge student success and celebrate students who embrace Excellence in Action! The Tar Heel of the Month initiative provides an opportunity to recognize students who demonstrate successful navigation of their UNC experience through Dynamic Learning, Honor, Personal Responsibility, and / or Community Engagement.

Dynamic Learning:  
The intellectual exploration of existing and emerging knowledge through the use of critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and communication skills that develops life-long learners with the capacity to address real world problems.

Honor:
